The Whitney Bard High School Hunger Assignment (in connection with the Oregon Food Bank).

Dave Anolik and Whitney Bard shake hands over the successful completion of her fundraising project.
In 1990 a high school art teacher in Michigan helped his students find a way to raise funds to support a food drive. What evolved was a class project to make ceramic bowls for a fund raising meal. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and bread, and were invited to keep the bowls as a reminder of the hunger in the world.
Ceramic bowls were "thrown" in Whitney's craft class, made available to invited guests for a contribution and the proceeds were then forwarded to a local hunger management organization.
Guests were invited to enjoy homemade soup contributed by the "Wild Oats" Store in Portland, Oregon.
Dave Anolik speaking for the Oregon Food Bank acquaints the guests with facts about the hungry in Oregon.
